Dr Ted Frackson

Doctor of Chiropractic, MSc Nutritition

Dr. Frackson is a native Victorian who developed an interest in Chiropractic while playing rugby in high school.

After studies at Camosun College and UVic, he attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto where he graduated in 1992. Since then he has maintained his passion for learning by attaining a year’s post graduate training in sports injury treatment, spinal exercise rehabilitation and maternity/pediatrics.

A married father of three children, Dr. Frackson devotes a good portion of his practice to the treatment of expectant moms and children. Providing drug free treatment for pregnant women with back or pelvic pain is especially gratifying.

As one who has trained for and run 4 marathons he also enjoys treating athletes and those just trying to stay in shape through exercise and diet. In 2009 he received his Masters of Science in Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. The importance of diet in his marathon training led to the pursuit of this degree.

Learning about topics such as Kinesiotaping (as seen in the last 5 Olympic games), Functional Movement Systems used by athletic trainers to screen for injury risk, and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization used in Europe for the past 15 years to break damaging movement patterns, Dr. Frackson continues to be well trained in the latest forms of physical injury treatment.

Dr Kavan Yu

Doctor of Chiropractic, BSc

Born and raised in Victoria, Dr. Kavan Yu first went to a chiropractor at the age of seven, for aches and pains related to growing. Constantly playing sports and being active, he found that his chiropractor consistently helped him alleviate and recover from injuries and pain in both an effective and efficient manner. After discovering that all the chiropractors he encountered seemed so passionate about their job, he quickly knew this was the career for him.

After high school, in preparation for his chiropractic training, Dr. Yu attended the University of Victoria, where he completed his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology, which is the study of human movement. He subsequently attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto.

Dr. Yu has a strong interest in soft-tissue injuries and functional rehabilitation in relation to chiropractic care. This has led him to complete various courses in soft-tissue injury related treatment. Some of these courses include certifications in Active Release Techniques®, Graston Technique®, FAKTR-PM or Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehabilitation, Provocation, and Motion, and Kinesiology Taping (K-Taping).

Furthermore, he constantly strives to better serve his patients by increasing his knowledge base through continuing education courses, workshops and conferences.

Dr. Yu enjoys treating patients of all ages for various neuro-musculo-skeletal conditions ranging from acute injuries, to repetitive strain injuries, to supportive and wellness care. He also has a special interest and knowledge base in athletic injuries, and enjoys taking on challenging cases.

He strongly believes in empowering patients through tailor-made treatment and rehabilitation programs to meet each individual’s needs. He utilizes a range of techniques such as functional movement assessments, corrective exercise/rehab, chiropractic adjustments, soft-tissue/myofascial mobilization, patient education, and lifestyle modifications.

Outside of chiropractic practice, Dr. Yu enjoys all that BC has to offer – hiking, camping, surfing, snowboarding, and mountain biking. He also loves to travel. Please check out Dr. Yu’s website for more information: www.kavanyu.com

Dr Jordan Millar

Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Jordan Millar was born and raised in Smithers, BC, and received her first chiropractic adjustment when she was an infant. A regular chiropractic patient since childhood, and the only treatment that helped her neck pain as a teenager, it became her passion to help others experience chiropractic care for themselves.

She attended both UVIC and UBC, and obtained a degree in archaeology. After receiving her Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, she continued to study prenatal, postnatal and pediatric care with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, and has a special passion for treating pregnant women, kids and babies. She is also Webster technique certified. Webster technique is a special chiropractic pelvic technique that encourages optimal positioning of the baby. Pregnancy support pillows assist the pregnant mother for comfortable care.

Dr. Jordan is dedicated towards helping families have healthy pregnancies and births. As a mother of two following midwifery-assisted births (one hospital and one a home-birth), she supports attachment-parenting and helps families through the challenges of breastfeeding, co-sleeping, and baby-wearing. Through chiropractic, infants and children are assisted naturally through their milestones for optimal growth and development.

In her spare time, Dr. Jordan can be found hiking up Mt Doug, playing with her kids, travelling, and reading. She is an essential oils enthusiast and loves to make her own natural cleaning and beauty products. Organic local whole foods are important to her and she also has fun attempting to grow veggies in her garden. Dr. Jordan is also active as an advocate in childhood cancer awareness and a member of Momcology.

Jaime Blacklock

Receptionist

Jaime was born in Victoria and raised between Sooke, Langford and Nanaimo, but Victoria has always felt the most like home. She has been a patient of Dr. Ted’s since 2003, and worked for him previously in 2006 – 2007 between a backpacking adventure through Europe with her sister and moving Down Under to live with her Aussie, Dave, whom she had met on a tour of Scotland.

Amy Wallace

Receptionist

Amy was born just outside of Vancouver B.C, but has been raised in Victoria her whole life and she wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Working in an office that feels like family is great, working in an office that is family is even better. As a patient of Dr. Frackson for many years and the niece of Krista Frackson, Amy knows first hand how the chiropractic lifestyle improves full body motion and improves quality of life.

She joined the office family in Spring 2014, when Jaime went on to have baby number two, the beautiful "Annalee", Jaime is now back with us and Amy is here to stay.

When she's not the smiling face behind the front desk, Amy enjoys socializing with friends, going out for dinner, as well as heading to the movie theatre to catch the latest flick. One of her favourite hobbies is cooking healthy and delicious meals with family and friends, but due to her food allergies she's always on the hunt for the best "dairy free" recipes for dinner and dessert.

Victoria has and always will be Amy's home, she loves the beauty, people, diversity and weather of our beautiful little Vancouver Island.

Krista Frackson

Office Manager

Krista, our office manager, as well as Dr. Ted’s wife, has been working in the office since it began in 1992. Over the years (as their children got older) Krista increased her time in the office and now has the role of office manager. This includes reception duties, billings, payroll and accounting.

The most recent undertaking for Krista has been to transition the office to a paperless charting and billing software. It has been extremely exciting to watch our small practice with just one chiropractor grow into a multi-disciplinary health centre. The greatest joy for Krista is when patients comment on the wonderful family atmosphere they feel when visiting the office. That is the greatest goal for both Krista and Dr. Ted, to treat each person that walks into the office as family and to do their utmost to find the care that is best for them.

Krista and Dr. Ted have loved being able to raise their family in the city of Victoria, where they grew up together. They have three children, all of whom are attending post secondary education. In 2016 Krista and Dr. Ted will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Friends and family are continually amazed that this couple can work together and stay happily married.

When they are not working together in the office, Krista and Dr. Ted love to spend time with family and friends. You will also discover that this couple has an extreme passion for travel. These holidays include rest and relaxation along with some ziplining, snorkelling, hiking and any other exciting excursions that Krista seems inclined to sign them up for. Krista feels blessed to spend a great part of her day with the wonderful patients that attend the office, whom over time, have come to feel like part of the family.
